I bought it to replace the original Lenovo 3-cell battery which was needing frequent recharging. It came in a partially discharge state complete with detailed instructions which cover two phases. The first phase is to condition or run-in the battery, the second phase is ongoing maintenance to prolong the life of the battery. Running-in involves doing three or four complete charges and discharges to make sure that the battery fuel gauge is set correctly. The second phase involves not allowing the battery to discharge completely, ensuring that recharging occurs before complete discharge. To ensure that the battery’s fuel gauge remains correctly calibrated it is recommended that a deliberate full discharge and recharge is performed once every 30 charges. Other than this, the battery must not be allowed to discharge fully.
