You forget how batteries deteriorate over time until your camera is flat every time you go to use it. If you've tried the battery shaped objects at auction sites you'll know what "bargains" are available. Buy cheap - buy twice! Alternatively you could just plug in some Duracell's and know that all will be well - they're holding their charge allowing photography not battery management to be the focus of the weekend!
